Sciatic Nerve Pain Rehab – Inflamed Sciatic Nerve
THIS HURTS!
What hurts…: left side of my back which i presume is my sciatica nerve, if i sit too much then the pain goes down my left thigh and sometimes down into my left shin or area below my knee.
How you hurt it…: don’t really know other than maybe lifting cans at work and it was easing until i did some gardening and then it got worse.
When you hurt it…: probably four or five months ago.
Your pain level (1 is low, 10 is high pain): varies between 2 and 8.
Your age and overall health…: 62 and overweight.
Any other information you feel is relevant…: eases when on my feet and walking around.
YOUR INJURY COULD BE…
Inflamed Sciatic Nerve.
REHAB YOUR INJURY BY…
Controlling Inflammation Around Nerve by Icing: Lay side-lined with the painful side up. Place a pillow between your knees for comfort. Place ice pack on painful region for 15 minutes, 2 to 3 times per day with at least one hour in-between.
One Knee-To-Chest: Bring one knee to your check and hold for 15 seconds. Switch to other knee until you have completed this 3 times on each leg. These exercises should not bring about pain, stop if they do.
Both Knees-To-Chest: Bring both knees to your chest together holding them there for 15 seconds. Repeat this exercise 3 times.
Nerve Glide: While on your back, bend your knees. Lift one knee up, while holding the back with your hands or band and pump your knee into and out of the pain. Repeat this exercise 10 times on both knees.

Just after one session of your suggested exercises I feel better. I have had the start of this pain for over 2 years and I thought it was just over use of my hip at the gym however, after having an MRI and going to the doctor, I was informed that it was my sciatic nerve….I have been in sooooooo much pain that I just want to cry half the time…I can’t sit at my desk for more than 3 minutes.

Informed patient, problem starts from misaligned atlas at the top. Problem can start at birth. Only upper cervical specific doctors using x rays, scientific instrumentation.. Atlas should be level and centered under the opening where the nerves enter, exit, brain. Overwhelming majority of people don’t have this. Can have whether symptoms exist or not. Body functions and brain will steadily get worse if not corrected. (Up c spine)

yah i got sciatica 5 months ago and i was in my last year of highschool…i could barely stand up and i had to lay down on the floor after classes so i can walk properly…it’s been 5 months and i still have it but i can stand up without laying anymore…but it still hurts like heck..

Thanks so much for reminding me that the key to getting any benefit out of these exercises is to SLOW DOWN. I have lots of experience managing upper back/nerve conditions and have learned to measure progress in weeks rather than days. But I was stumped by this leg pain until I started using just these simple exercises two or three times a day instead of grimacing through my usual yoga/pilates back maintenance routine. All better in just under two weeks. Thanks for the help!

I have this pain too. Sometimes the left side of my lower back in the upper pelvic region, sometimes in the right side. Most recently I had pain which began in my left lower back region and spread down to my left hip making the muscles around it spazm. It was EXCRUCIATING!!! Then my left hamstring started to spazm too. It lasted for 2 days, then went away as quickly as it arrived. Is that normal?
