I had that too, around 13-15 weeks. It was around the time that my uterus 'popped' up and out of my pelvis. It is very uncomfy, I know! I also found that my lower abdomen felt heavy and achy. If you are concerned though, I would go to your doctor and check to see if you have a UTI. Sometimes bladder infections are pretty much symptomless in pregnancy, but you can get odd feelings... I went to my MW when I had these aches and fortunately I didn't have an infection - but it's better safe than sorry. Honestly though, I think it's just your uterus growing and moving upwards (you're going to start showing in a few weeks!!)

cheers!
References :
What side and what area is the pain?
Anything could be wrong that can cause abdominal pain. Is it upper right, lower right, upper left, lower left?
Do you have a fever with this?
Depends on where it is and what's causing it. If you're possibly pregnant it could be that or if it's on one side it could be ectopic pregnancy (go to e.r.), ovarian cysts (see doctor), appendicitis (go to e.r.), gallbladder (go to e.r. or doctor), gas pains (take antigas), stomach problem or acid in there (see doctor), could be overgrowth of bacteria in there that can be fatal (see doctor and may need e.r.). It could even be menstrual cramps but unless you post back with where you're hurting it's hard to guess and no one can really diagnose on the Internet. Eating something if you have a life threatening situation is not a good idea. I had an intestinal infection and didn't know until I got seen by a gastroenterologist who gave me antibiotics and something for the bowel cramping. I initially thought ovarian cyst, dr. thought appendix, and then other doctor found it to be an intestinal infection and told me it would have been fatal had I not gone in. If you edit your post with additional information I can give you more info and possibilities but I would see your doctor if the pain is severe.
References :
Paramedic

In some cases it can be but this depends upon the type of arthritis, the severity, overall physical condition of your Mom, etc.

Some things that help are exercise, enough sleep each night, a healthy diet and maybe join an arthritis support group in the area.

Has she seen a doctor and tried medications or have you just tried supplements? Nothing beats seeing a physician for professional help!
References :
http://www.australiandream.com

You don't mention which kind of arthritis she has (there are about 100 kinds of arthritis!) but for the purposes of answering your question I'll assume that she has osteoarthritis (OA), one of the most common types. You also don't say which joint(s) are affected. There is no cure for OA.
However there are things that can give some measure of temporary relief to OA patients. Conservative measures include exercise and/or physical therapy, non-steroidal drugs (NSAIDS), cortisone injections, use of a walking aid such as a cane for hip and knee OA. Hyaluronic treatments can work for some with knee OA. The final treatment for those with advanced OA in the hip, knee, or shoulder involves surgery in the form of replacement of the joint. This is as close to a "cure" as medical science has achieved.
I had severe OA in my hips. I tried some of the conservative measures for several years and I was able to put off the surgery for a year or so but eventually I had both hips replaced. I now can walk with no limp, no pain, need no cane, and take no meds. I have my life back and I am, for all practical purposes, "cured" of OA in the hip joint. I also have OA in my thumb joint and a knee but so far they don't bother me too much and I can still do normal activities with no pain.
To learn more about all types of arthritis, have a look at some of these websites:

Yes Arthritis pain can be brought into a more acceptable level, however, it is a struggle to find the right combination of drugs to help. I get chronically severe pain daily and very bad lower back aches and feeling like my muscles are constantly burning especially around my knees and ankles. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I take Disease Modifying Drugs like Sulfasalazine 500mg 4 times daily, Prednisolone Steroids 10mg once daily, Omeprazole 20mg daily to fight acid reflux from Steroid use, I take multiple vitamin supplements and I take 8 Co-Dydramol pills per day for pain which are (10mg Dihydrocodeine/ 500mg Paracetamol (Tylenol)), I have a 20mcg/per hour Buprenorphine patch, yet im still in agony and find it difficult to walk and get up off chairs without my crutch there to help me. Every step is agony for me and im only 24 in a few weeks.
References :
Rheumatoid Arthritis Sufferer.

well it depend the type of arthritis she has. If it is rheumatoid then the intercellular material between the bones is gone and she is suffering the damage to the bone ends.
Without any doubt the best substance for long time relief and assistance is Glucosamine sulphate with chondroitin.
This is made from shell fish so she must be sure that she has no allergy reaction to eating that fish food.
It's been out now for at leat 10 years for my certain knowledge and has no known side effects. However at 1000mg dosage a day its going to take 6 weeks for it to take effect, and a great time longer to re grow the material between the bones.
References :
My sympathies to your mother (and you). I know all too well the pain of RA...

At the moment, I am in the same predicament. Lots of pain, loss of sleep. The pain makes sleeping impossible, and the loss of sleep makes the pain greater. It's a vicious cycle.

All I can suggest is that your mother speak with her rheumatologist and/or family practitioner and tell them everything that is going on. They may be able to prescribe a sleep aid along with the pain meds.

Vitamins and supplements? I don't know of anything that eliminates pain, although I *do* notice some lessening of pain when I eat fresh or frozen pineapple, or tart cherries. The bromelian in pineapple is an anti-inflammatory, and can be obtained as an OTC supplement. Ditto the cherry supplements. Both of these seem to be perfectly safe.

Some people swear by melatonin as a sleep aid, but I've heard also that it shouldn't be taken with certain meds and for lengthy periods of time, so I hesitate to recommend this. Your mom should probably speak with her doctor about this. Perhaps a glass of warm milk?

Deep breathing, relaxation, prayer, meditation, white noise (a fan in the background) and sounds of nature (cd's of waves crashing and waterfalls) can also contribute to a relaxed state and a restful sleep environment. It's important that your mom be able to relax, as pain causes stress and stress increases pain ... I know, it's so hard, and my heart aches for her.

If your mom is able, a good long soak in a hot bath would do wonders, but 9 years into her disease this may no longer be a possibility. I know I can't sink into a tub, and oh, how I wish.

Maybe your mother would appreciate a gentle massage from her very caring daughter. That or a hug would do wonders.

Hope I was able to help in some small way, and only the best to both of you.
